PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
To recap: Fourth-generation Columbia Valley farmers Butch and Jerry Milbrandt honed their passion and knowledge of the land growing apples and tomatoes, but they knew that their farm was meant for grape cultivation and great wines. In 1997 they embarked on a journey to transform their land into vineyards, and in so doing, became instrumental in the establishment of the Wahluke Slope and Ancient Lakes AVAs.
Today, the Milbrandt brothers, along with Butch's son Buck, have fifteen vineyards in the Columbia Valley and are widely regarded as one of the premium producers of fine wine in the region, with many of their cuvées receiving 90+ ratings from the wine press. Today's wine is the result of a labor of love created to bring high-quality Washington State wines to the market at affordable prices.
$7 per bottle, though? How can it be THAT affordable? Truth be told, the name of the wine and the label design are very similar to one that is already widely distributed in the market. The owners of that project were not too happy; suffice it to say that the Milbrandts had to redesign their label for future vintages and move this one tout suite. We were happy to help!
Today's offer is crafted from 100% chardonnay grapes sourced from vineyards throughout Washington state, including some of the Milbrandt's vineyards in the Columbia Valley. It has floral and citrus aromas that lead to a lushly-textured palate rich with flavors of lemon peel and white peach undercut with notes of wet stone and bright acidity that brings it to a long finish. Not too shabby for $7, amirite?
