PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Clos St. Antonin is a domain that was acquired by the Sabon family of the famed Domaine de la Janasse. 15 acres are under vine, with two in the AOC of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. 2015 was the inaugural vintage of the Clos St. Antonin CdP; this superb wine gets better with each vintage, as evidenced by today's offer. It is sourced entirely from the famed La Clau and Font du Loup lieux-dits, which boast some of the highest elevations in the AOC and rich soil layered with sand, alluvial deposits, limestone, silica, and red clay known as molasse - all topped with those famous galets*. The legendary Mistral winds sweep away any moisture in the air, protecting the vines from rot.

Crafted from 100% grenache, this unfiltered and unfined beauty is a robust yet elegant expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Check out the press!

97 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Mulled blueberries and dewy rose-petal notes perfume this silky-textured grenache. It’s a rich, powerfully penetrating wine that fills the palate with pools of black cherry and berry flavors but maintains a thrilling mineral freshness and vitality. Framed by fine, silky tannins, it’s approachable already but should improve well through 2040 at least. *Editors' Choice*" (10/2021)

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"The 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is another complex, layered, incredibly satisfying wine from this estate. Kirsch, blackberries, Provençal garrigue, and loads of spicy nuances give way to a medium-to-full-bodied, seamless, exuberant 2019 with wonderful tannins as well as a great finish. This wine always shines for its complexity and elegance, and the 2019 is no exception. Drink it over the coming 15 years or so." (11/2021)

93 points, Decanter:
"A fresh and vibrant black cherry and damson-scented nose. A concentrated and naturalistic expression of the terroir; pliable tannins, sappy berry fruit, with a natural upsurge of power and muscle on the palate. Natural class. 60-year-old vines owned by the Sabon family of Domaine de la Janasse." (10/2020)

93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Rich, dense and compact, the 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is all grenache, but it still needs some time to unfurl. For now, it offers up subdued hints of garrigue layered over a backdrop of ripe black cherries and dark chocolate. Full-bodied and intense, with a long finish, it should blossom with a few years in the cellar." (5/2022)

*Composed largely of quartzite, galets are large stones that retain moisture in the soil during the hot, dry summer months and capture the sun's heat, releasing it at night to hasten the ripening of the grapes.
