Yamhill-Carlton is located in the northern part of the Willamette Valley near the town of McMinnville and became an official AVA in 2004. Nestled among the Coast Range to the west, the Dundee Hills to the east and the Chehalem Mountains to the North, the region is protected from excessive precipitation. The soils, composed of coarse, ancient marine sediments, lend a mineral-driven edge to the finished wines. Because of the excellent drainage provided by these coarse soils, the vines stop growing shoots and leaves relatively early, resulting in riper, deeper fruit flavors, silky tannins, and mouth-filling secondary characteristics.
Today's wine is a testament to the perfect marriage between Pinot Noir and the Yamhill-Carlton terroir. Medium-bodied and velvety-smooth, it is loaded with exuberant, plush, juicy fruits - blueberries, black cherries, and black raspberries - layered with baking spices and laced with hints of stony minerality.

The flavors here fall on the low end of ripeness, especially for the vintage, showing elegant, tart red fruits adorned with fresh green herbs. Lemon verbena, citrus oil and rhubarb accentuate the flavors of this wine, which should be consumed over the next three or four years.
