This is Ridge's third Adelaida Vineyard bottling of grenache blanc, blended this year with roussanne and picpoul. The vineyard lies on the limestone hills of the Adelaida District, thirteen miles from the Pacific coast. Those limestone soils, coupled with a warm climate and cooling sea breezes, create ideal growing conditions for the fruit, which perfectly balances ripeness and acidity. After whole cluster pressing, each varietal was fermented separately. Roussanne was included to enhance mouthfeel; picpoul brought lively acidity to the palate.
Pale-gold in color, the wine displays aromas and flavors of green apple, lime, and a hint of cut green grass, along with crushed rock minerality. Bright acidity brings it to a clean finish. This refreshing wine can be enjoyed immediately upon release and will gain complexity over the next four to five years.
