PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
1881 Napa is a Boisset Collection winery named after a landmark historical Victorian that is the oldest continuously operating grocery store in California. Founded in 1881, this beloved general store served the pioneers who first planted grapes in the valley.* Today, the winery pays homage to those visionaries through its relationships with some of the best grape farmers in Napa.

From the near-perfect 2018 vintage and made from fruit sourced across the Napa Valley, today's bold cabernet sauvignon is a blend of warmer climate hillside vineyard fruit and valley floor fruit, creating a wine that celebrates the region’s diversity and complexity. It opens with a bouquet of boysenberry, bourbon, and toasted vanilla aromas with a waft of caramel. Full-bodied with a plush entry, layers of brown sugar, cocoa, mulling spices, and currants fill the mouth and are complemented by rich, round tannins. The finish is long and smooth.*

92 points, Decanter Magazine:
"An opaque ruby color. Sweet and seductive dark berry aromas are framed by a bouquet of oak, caramel, and dried coconut. Decadent, rich, and full-bodied with silken, juicy, just-picked farmer’s market blackberry fruit and overripe plum, finding a cherry liqueur and almost Chambord-like finish. The ripe, sweet quality of this wine is nicely balanced by delicate underpinnings of earth and finely-textured and elongated tannins. Another pleasure-filled generous cabernet from Boisset, courtesy of the excellent 2018 growing seasons in Napa. A total of 93% cabernet sauvignon is joined by 4% zinfandel and 3% petite sirah, all aged one year in 40% new American oak. Drinking window 2021 - 2025." (6/24/21)

90 points, Wine Spectator:
"Very fresh and forward, with a blast of cherry pie and blackberry compote notes, unencumbered by toast and ending with a floral flourish amid the fruit. Drink now through 2024." (7/20/20)

90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Chocolaty mocha richness dominates alongside cherry vanilla and toasted oak in this soft, approachable crowd-pleaser. Aged in American oak, it retains a supple sweetness through the finish." (9/1/20)
