When you are introduced to wine at an early age with nothing less than a glass of 1962 Château d'Yquem, the seeds are planted for you to become one of the country's most talented winemakers. Take this opportunity to scoop up what may be Paul Hobbs' best wine of his entire career - and that is saying a lot!

Hobbs inherited his deep appreciation for the land from his parents, farmers Joan Hillick and Edward Hobbs, who encouraged him to become a winemaker. Taking their advice, he embarked on a journey that led him to have an illustrious career based on the production of artisan wines from some of the most prized vineyard sites in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys as well as in Argentina. His wines have earned heaps of praise from the wine press and a cult following of serious wine collectors. With the establishment of his Finger Lakes winery, aptly named after his parents, Hobbs has come full circle, bringing his passion and talents back to upstate New York, where he grew up, and with the help of the slate and shale-rich soils here, making magic with riesling.

96 points, Wine Enthusiast:
"Paul Hobbs’ Seneca Lake winery has cemented, in just a few short years, a spot at the top of NY riesling. Only second release, the 2020 is stunning. It’s lucid and bright, but also concentrated and powerful, with aromas of lemon pith, apricot kernel, orchard blossoms, talcum powder, and nutmeg. The bone-dry,rock-strewn mineral palate is slippery, even a little viscous, but it’s quickly drawn into center by a laser beam of crystalline acidity. There’s a pulse of juicy citrus to the long, tingly finish. Drinking beautifully now, it has at least another decade of life left."

96 points, James Suckling:
"Loads of white pepper, honeysuckle, peach and honey. Biscuit. Full-bodied, layered, and structured. Stone and slate undertones. Flavourful and full of taste."
