PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Vignobles Mayard is a fifth-generation family-owned and operated estate nestled in the heart of the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is currently managed by Françoise, Béatrice, and Didier Mayard, who tend their 43 hectares of vineyards planted to varietals indigenous to the southern Rhône. Their deep love for and knowledge of the land is reflected in each and every one of their stunning cuvées. 

The 2020 Famille Mayard Châteauneuf-du-Pape "Le Hurlevent," named for the strong Mistral winds that blow through the Rhône Valley, is a blend of 70% grenache from 40-year-old vines, 20% syrah, and 10% cinsault, both from 25-year-old vines, aged for 12 months in concrete tanks instead of oak in order to let its let its luscious fruit shine shine. Medium-to-full-bodied, it has a nose of brambly red berries and flavors of raspberries and cherries laced with notes of baking spices, savory herbs, wet stone, and a hint of white pepper on the long finish. All of the wine's flavor components are beautifully integrated, an impressive feat for a wine this young.
