PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Frog's Leap proprietor John Williams has an impressive winemaking resume dating back over 40 years, cutting his teeth at Stag's Leap and Spring Mountain Wineries before striking out on his own. His reverence for the old-school wines of Inglenook and Beaulieu Estates led him to Rutherford, where the well-drained, volcanic, gravelly soils provided the building blocks for their transcendent, terroir-driven Cabernet-based wines. His purchase of the Red Barn Vineyard in 1994, followed by a partnership with the owners of Chavez Leeds Vineyard and the acquisition of the historic Rossi Vineyard in Rutherford Bench, set the stage for Frog's Leap to follow in the footsteps of these iconic wineries.

The 2016 Frog's Leap Napa Valley Zinfandel is a testament to this properties passion and superior craftsmanship as well as an idyllic marriage of grape varietals and terroir. The 2016 Frog's Leap Napa Valley Zinfandel draws its power from sophistication instead of raw alcohol content it has been crafted in the classic field blend style including significant portions of Petite Sirah and Carignane.

Lush fruit, deep ruby/purple hue in color, aromas of freshly crushed black berry fruits and wild brush. The mouth-filling flavors burst with notes of raspberry and blackberry up front with hints of cinnamon and white pepper interwoven among the fruit notes. This wine is perfectly balanced, and remarkably drinkable right now but can be cellared with an eye towards continued development for upwards of 6-8 years.
