Sonoma County's Russian River Valley makes distinct, terroir-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its heavy fog and proximity to the influences of the Pacific Ocean provide the ideal growing conditions for these cool-climate grapes. It is the perfect setting for a winery dedicated to the production of wines crafted from these noble Burgundian varietals.
The 2018 Raeburn Chardonnay is a monovarietal (that's 100% Chardonnay) sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Malolactic fermentation and sur lie aging in French and Hungarian oak give this wine its lush texture. The palate is rich and round, with dominant flavors of ripe peach accented by notes of apple, pear, nectarine, vanilla, baking spice, and toasty oak. Bright acidity on the finish lends balance and brings the wine to a satisfying finish.
90 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is a creamy, voluptuous and richly layered white wine, smooth and overdelivering on its price point in appealing flavors of peach and vanilla." (1/1/20)
90 points, James Suckling:
"This has a very rich and fleshy feel with intense, ripe peaches that pervade the nose and palate. There’s a really concentrated feel here. Ripe, too." (12/12/19)
