Gavi is the production zone in southeastern Piedmont that makes white wines from the native Cortese varietal. Gavi's medium body, moderate acidity, and crisp, citrus flavors make it a lovely aperitif as well as a terrific accompaniment to a wide variety of foods.
Tenuta San Pietro is located in the heartland of Gavi country, lying outside the town of Tassarolo in Piedmont, near to the border of Liguria. The winery's commitment to organic farming practices is rooted in the belief that chemical fertilizers would likely alter the soil and therefore change the essential balance that makes the ideal Gavi wine. With hundreds of years of tradition to live up to that would never suffice, particularly considering that some of its vines were planted many centuries ago by Franciscan Friars. (Importer notes)
