From the Middle Ages to the 19th century, wine was the key ingredient in the common writing ink pen. Wine made the coloring agents in ink more stable and was considered a purer solvent than water. The Magna Carta, in 1297, was written with it, Van Gogh drew with it, Da Vinci jotted notes with it, and Bach composed with it. These boundary-breaking historical tidbits provided the inspiration for Angels Ink, which is all about expressing originality and creativity in every glass.*
The 2020 Angels Ink Pinot Noir is rich and juicy yet exquisitely well-balanced. Stainless steel fermented and aged for 6 months in a combination of new and seasoned oak barrels, it is resplendent with aromas and flavors of boysenberries, raspberries, and cherries and layered with accents of cola, baking spice, wet stone, toast, and the merest hint of vanilla on the palate. It finishes long, with mouthwatering acidity that makes it thoroughly enjoyable with or without food, and begs you to take another sip.
