PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
This is 100% Garganega grape, the most important indigenous varietal to the famous zone of Soave. This Soave Classico is from single vineyard Le Battistelle is sourced from south-facing vineyards situated on the volcanic slopes of the Soave DOC in the Veneto region of north east Italy. Here you’ll find wonderful purity of fruit so typical of the variety with great palate weight and texture as a result of time on lees. As is the motif with Italian wine, this is great paired with all types of cuisine. The winery recommends pairing this wine with seafood platters, pasta dishes, risotto, chicken and semi-hard cheeses. Huge potential to age. Tasting notes from the winery:
Well-balanced wine with an enchanting sensory mixture of aromatic herbs, white flowers and citrus fruits. On the palate, the wine has a beautiful structure and important mineral note that testify to the volcanic soil matrix. A long, soft finish with outstanding harmony.
Viticulture and Winemaking:
Because of its extremely steep slopes, the Battistelle single vineyard demands exceptional artisanal expertise to grow the revered Garganega. A labour of love, farmed on volcanic basalt soils rich in micro-particles, the vines are grown to the traditional Veronese pergola method, on dry-stone wall terraces. At the beginning of October, the bunches are hand-harvested, de-stemmed and pressed gently and then immediately chilled. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about 20 days. The wine develops on the fine lees with frequent batonnage for between 6-8 months in stainless steel tanks. This winery started in 2002, after Gelmino and Cristina Dal Bosco gave up selling their grapes to a local wine Cooperative and began the vinification of their own wine.
