PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Jumilla is a DO in Murcia, on the Mediterranean coast of southeastern Spain. Its hot, dry climate and well-drained soils rich in limestone bear ultra-ripe fruit with high sugar concentration, thick skin and balancing acidity. Bodegas Luzón was one of the region’s pioneering wineries. Established in 1841 by Don José de Molina and still family-owned, it owes its success to the philosophy that great wine starts in the vineyards, as evidenced by their meticulous management of their 1200 hectares of vines and their non-interventionist approach to winemaking.

Today’s wine is a blend of 50% Monastrell, 25% Tempranillo, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in oak for 12 months. It is full-bodied and redolent on the nose and palate with cassis, blackberries, black plums, and black cherries. Flavors of licorice, sweet baking spices, mocha, and vanilla unfold on the palate layer by layer. A thread of stony minerality and balancing acidity appear on the mid-palate and bring the wine to a long and satisfying finish.
