Bouchard Aîné & Fils, founded in 1750 in Beaune, the historical heart of Burgundy, has earned acclaim for its expertise in crafting Burgundy’s treasured Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its cellars in the Hôtel du Conseiller du Roy, a classic 18th-century maison, reveal the history of the winery and of Burgundy – the birthplace of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. For over two centuries, Bouchard Aîné & Fils has pursued perfection in quality and terroir-driven authenticity. Currently, under the umbrella of the Boisset portfolio, Bouchard continues to craft award-winning wines from all over Burgundy. (from winery notes)
Le Porusot is one of the 1er Cru Vineyards in Meursault and as such produces some of the finest Chardonnays in the AOC. Spanning approximately 10 hectares, Le Porusot has rocky topsoil and a south-eastern exposure, which gives the vines maximum sunlight. In today's wine, these conditions of terroir result in rich, ripe fruit characters like peach, apricot, and lemon peel balanced with vibrant acidity along with a thread of minerality. Today's wine is a beautiful expression of its origin; lees aging and 18 months spent in oak barrels (30% new) add fullness, texture, and layers of oak-driven flavors. Check out the press!
91 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Tangy and zesty, this crisp wine shows a strong sense of chalky terroir, with a mineral edge and tight acidity. These elements mean the wine will take time to age. Drink from 2021." (11/1/17)
