PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Casas del Bosque was established in 1993 by the Cúneo family. Located 45 miles from Santiago, the capital of Chile, and 18 miles from the port of Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the property is populated with pine and olive trees along with white adobe houses that inspired its name: "Houses in the Woods."
The Cúneo family currently has 189 hectares under vine planted to classic French varietals that are pure reflections of their terroir, thanks to their sustainable farming practices and non-interventionist approach to winemaking. Their cabernet sauvignon comes from vineyards in the Rapel Valley's two subregions, the Colchagua and Cachapoal Valleys, as well as the Maipo Valley.
Today's feature is sourced from vineyards situated in the foothills of the Andes Mountains and within close proximity to the Cachapoal River. The stony soil, excellent sun exposure, and wide diurnal temperature variations during the growing season bring forth ultra-ripe grapes with sturdy tannins.
Fermented in stainless steel and aged in a combination of oak and stainless steel, the 2022 Casas del Bosque Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva has aromas and flavors of cassis, raspberries, mint, and tobacco, accompanied by notes reminiscent of coconut, vanilla, and white chocolate. This Cabernet Sauvignon fills the palate with good volume, accompanying the sensation of persistence with soft, round tannins. (from winemaker notes)

"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva from Cachapoal Valley was aged in 10% new barrels for 12 months. Garnet red in hue. The ripe, fruit-forward nose offers blackcurrant and pyrazine aromas with hints of licorice and black tea over a layer of camphor and menthol. Smooth in feel with round, polished tannins, mild freshness, and bold flavor. It ends with a cleansing finish." (3/23)
