PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Château du Grand Bos is located in Castres, where some of the oldest Bordeaux vineyards are found. The estate had fallen into a state of disrepair when, in the 1950s, M. André Vincent, proprietor of Château La Haye in Saint-Estèphe changed his retirement plans and purchased it with the intent of revitalizing the vineyards and restoring the château. He accomplished this massive undertaking over the next several years and later purchased additional neighboring vineyards. Today, Château du Grand Bos has 18 hectares under vine, 15 of which are planted to red varietals while the remaining are planted to white grapes. Since the estate has been under the care of the Vincent family, no herbicides or pesticides have been used in the vineyards.

Today's wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc aged for 18 months in a combination of new and seasoned Allier oak barrels. Medium-to-full-bodied, it envelops the senses with ripe blackberries cassis, and black cherries, with layers of vanilla, saddle leather, tobacco, savory herbs, graphite, and cedar adding depth and dimension. The tannins are firm yet plaint, making this beauty drinkable now with a brief decanting but also giving it considerable aging potential. Check out the press!

92 points, International Wine Report:
"The 2010 Château du Grand Bos is showing beautifully at this stage in its evolution. It displays lovely aromas of cherries and plums, which are laced with dried florals, tobacco, charred toast, wet stones, and exotic spices that all take shape in the glass. On the palate, this is medium-bodied and structured with velvety tannins that lead into the long, velvety finish. There is no need to wait much longer to enjoy the 2010 vintage of Château du Grand Bos." (3/21)
