PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Fronsac is an appellation for Merlot-based red wines in Bordeaux' Right bank. It has a hilly, wooded landscape and soils composed of sandstone, limestone, and clay. Although it has a centuries-old winemaking history, the region has existed in the shadows of its more well-known neighbors Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. The last half of the 20th century saw vast improvements in the region's wines, thanks to a growing international market and advances in technology and winemaking practices. Fronsac is a hub of affordable alternatives to the high-priced wines of its neighboring appellations, and the family-owned and operated Château Tasta epitomizes this tradition.

The 2015 Château Tasta Fronsac is a mono-varietal (100% Merlot) sourced from 45-year-old vines. Aged in a combination of tanks and oak barrels, this medium-bodied wine has aromas of brambly black fruits and a palate redolent with blackberries, cassis, and black raspberries layered with notes of savory herbs, graphite, and balancing acidity.
