PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Château Tour Grand Mayne has been in the Robin family for generations. The family has long-standing roots in Bordeaux, having established themselves as merchants and barrel-makers in the Libourne region in the 17th century. The estate has been run since 1991 by Ines Robin and her husband Dominique Fugier, who took over the property from Ines’ father. In 2003, Ines’ sister Laurence joined the team, followed a few years later by her niece Mathilde.

Côtes de Castillon is a treasure trove of wines that score high on the price-to-quality ratio. Located on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, it has only fairly recently been granted AOC status in the region. The soil, made primarily of clay and limestone, is a match made in heaven with the merlot grape, which dominates here.

Today's wine is crafted from 100% merlot. Primary fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, after which the wine was aged for 20 months in barrels. The tannins are velvety, yet the wine is extremely well-structured. It opens with aromas of black fruits and cigar box. The full-bodied palate abounds with black currants, cherries, and cassis, with accents of cedar, vanilla, and the merest hints of spices on the finish. This is a wine that is drinking very well now and will continue to develop gracefully over the next two to five years.
