The Morgon appellation is dominated by a hill called Mont du Py. The soil here, made of decomposed schist, brings forth nuanced aromas and flavors to the finished wines. Chauvet’s Morgon Côte du Py is produced on this hill peaking at 300m above sea level. The selected parcels are very sunny, on south-oriented steep slopes; the generous sun exposure results in very ripe and concentrated fruit.
Today's wine is deep ruby in color, with aromas of red fruits and wet stone. The palate is bright and full of plush fruits: raspberries, Morello cherries, and black cherries. Accents of flint, clove, and black pepper unfold on the palate layer by layer, while plaint tannins and bright acidity bring it to a long and satisfying finish.
