PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Domaine Albert Morot has been synonymous with the AOC of Beaune since 1820. This benchmark domaine has been continuously run by founder Albert Morot’s descendants. Since 2000, Albert’s great, great-grand-nephew Geoffroy Choppin de Janvry has run the family business and ushered it into a new era. Geoffroy and his team farm 8 hectares almost entirely in Premier Cru vineyards. The vines average 50 years of age and yields are kept low, between 25 to 35 hectoliters per hectare.*
Today’s wine is sourced from the Teurons vineyard, which has soils of limestone and clay and a southeast exposure. The vines average 52 years in age. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeast and is aged in French oak barrels (30% new) for 16 months; it is unfiltered and unfined. Check out the press on this rich, fleshy masterpiece!
94 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"In the heart of the massive run of premier crus on the slopes above the city of Beaune, this vineyard has produced a wine with powerful tannins and great swathes of black fruits. *Cellar Selection* " (10/19)
92 points, Wine Spectator:
"This is bright and elegant, saturated with cherry, raspberry, vanilla and clove flavors. The precision and balance makes this attractive now, yet this should develop well." (5/20)
