Doña Paula Estate Malbec Uco Valley Mendoza, Argentina 2017

The 2017 Doña Paula Estate Malbec is made from sustainably-farmed grapes sourced from Altamira (over 3500 feet above sea level) and Gualtallary (4,430 ft above sea level) in the Uco Valley. The wine is aged in first, second and third use French oak barrels for 12 months. This restrained approach results in a wine that beautifully balances weight, structure, and terroir-driven elegance. The wine's intense, violet color is a harbinger of what awaits on the palate: rich flavors of cassis, pepper, and sweet baking spices, with hints of graphite and black pepper. It is medium-bodied and silky smooth, displaying great balance and freshness that is characteristic of wines from the Uco Valley.

91 points, James Suckling
"Bright and fresh with very clean fruit in the form of light morello cherries, citrus and orange rind. Light to medium body, pretty acidity, and a fruity finish."

Tim Atkin: Rated 91 Points
"Marcos Fernández uses older wood on this perfumed, reliable, large volume Malbec from Gualtallary and Altimira to allow the fruit to express itself. Modern, spicy and full of dark berry fruit, with top notes of rosemary and pine. 2020-25."
