PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Bodegas Fariña is a family-owned estate that is the embodiment of a dream started in 1942 after the Spanish Civil War when Salvador Fariña and his wife Tomasa López moved to Castilla Y León to start a new life. They started making wine under the name Bodegas Porto, and their son Manuel became involved in the business at a young age. He became passionate about wine and, after studying enology in Valencia, returned home with dreams of expanding the family enterprise. In 1986, when Spain joined the European Economic Community, the winery became Bodegas Fariña.
Currently led by Manuel's son Manu Fariña, who studied agricultural engineering and has a Master's degree in Enology, Bodegas Fariña has over 300 hectares under vine, most of which is planted to tempranillo.
Aged in concrete in order to showcase tempranillo's varietal character, the 2021 Bodegas Fariña "El Jefe Grande" is full, robust, and juicy, with aromas of cassis, black plums, and baking spices that follow on the palate. Bright acidity gives the wine lift; subtle hints of wet stone and white pepper add depth and dimension.
