Founded in 1896, Don Federico Paternina established his winery on a site featuring cellars dug in the 16th century in Ollauri, Rioja Alta. After passing through several hands along its history, in 2014, Marqués de la Concordia decided to adopt this historic bodega to its family of wines and are now fully committed to preserving its status as among the most beloved names in Rioja.
The wine possesses great complexity that belies its ridiculously low price tag. Crafted from Tempranillo, Garnacha and Mazuelo and aged for 24 months in American oak, it has a nose of ripe red cherries, herbs and violets. Those cherries dominate on the elegant, medium-bodied palate and are accented with notes of raspberry, rhubarb, vanilla, toast, and sweet baking spice. Vibrant acidity emerges on the mid-palate and stays through the long finish.
