PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
The Fontodi Estate is one of the crown jewels of the region, with a portfolio of stunning wines made from the native sangiovese grape (This is the estate behind the iconic "Flaccianello" IGT). Fontodi wines, year after year, receive numerous accolades from the wine press and are sought after by the most ardent collectors of Italian wines. The reason is simple: the estate's non-interventionist approach to winemaking showcases the unique and viticulturally rich terroir of the land.
Known as the "Conca d'Oro (the golden shell), Fontodi is an amphitheater-shaped property located in the valley south of the town of Panzano that benefits from a high elevation, clay/shist oil, generous light, and warm, dry weather with wide diurnal variations in temperature.*
Fontodi is a certified organic estate that extends over 130 hectares of which about 70 are planted with vines. The type of agriculture practiced is inspired by the principles of respect for nature and sustainability. Fontodi’s 2019 is striking and pronounced in fragrance. Licorice and black cherry are offset by coffee, char, and tobacco. Vigorous tannins yield slowly but surely as this makes its way across the palate.
