The Inama family has been making wine in the Soave and Colli Berici zones of the Veneto for more than a half-century. Their 60 hectares of vineyards are the embodiment of hard work, passion and deep knowledge of the land. Third generation brothers Matteo, Alessio, and Luca are the current caretakers and winemakers; they have built upon the solid foundation of their forebears by embracing tradition while at the same time undertaking new practices such as precision agriculture, a system that involves analyzing the chemical makeup of the soils in order to obtain the highest expression of the grapes and terror in their finished wines. Adherence to organic farming, low yields, and the encouragement of biodiversity in the vineyards have resulted in fruit with thicker and more aromatic skins. The success of these methods is evident in all of their cuvées, as we discovered when Alessio stopped by our Needham store and tasted us through their mind- and palate-blowing lineup.
We highly recommend that you try Inama wines, and start with today's robust offer. The Bradisismo is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Carménère sourced from 10- to 40-year-old vines from their Lonigo and San Germano Vineyards located in Colli Berici. The vineyards have clay and limestone soils, southern exposures and altitudes of 50-250 meters. Aged for 15 months in a combination of 50% new and 50% seasoned oak barrels, the wine is rich, brawny, and intense. Aromas of black cherries and baking spices lead to a palate with those cherries reappearing along with dominant notes of blackberries and cassis. Accents of cocoa, pepper, and the merest hint of mint unfold layer by layer. Firm tannins provide structure, yet the wine is silky-smooth with a bit of decanting.
92 points, James Suckling:
"A pronounced nose that beguiles you with its notes of cherry compote, darkly spiced licorice, tar, light vanilla, and blackcurrants. Trim and foursquare on the palate, due to the firmness and vivacity of the tannins, but generous and endearing. Medium to full body and a velvety finish." (4/21/19)
