PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Jordan Winery was established in 1972 by Tom and Sally Jordan, who were dedicated solely to producing cabernet sauvignons and chardonnays that reflected their French-style winemaking sensibilities. To this end, they hired famous consulting winemaker André Tchelistcheff, who helped them craft distinct wines that express Old-World winemaking and the magnificent terroir of the Alexander Valley. Today, this tradition is carried on by Chief Winemaker Rob Davis and current proprietor John Jordan, whose wines continue to be enamored by both consumers and the press.

Aged for 12 months in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels, the 2012 Jordan Winery Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with a touch of merlot, petit verdot, and malbec. It has concentrated aromas of blackberries and black cherries with an inviting hint of cedar. The wine’s silky palate is long and expansive, boasting
a beautiful balance of black fruit and fine tannin structure. Its finish is lively, lingering, and laced with a sweetness of fruit. (winemaker tasting notes)

92 points, Decanter magazine:
"Winemaker Rob Davis says the year was so good the wine 'made itself.' It’s big but balanced with what seems a signature of the year: a plush, almost seductive texture. The aromas of graphite and crushed herbs stand out right now, while lush black cherry fruit and a cola note merge in a long concentrated finish that has a bit of sweetness."

91 points, Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This is a complex, layered, and elegantly conceived wine. It's enjoyable now in its juicy waves of red currant and cassis, with a background hint of brown sugar and toasted oak."

91 points, Wine & Spirits Magazine:
"Welcoming cabernet” might seem like an oxymoron, but Jordan has always aimed for a style that’s drinkable on release. Mostly hillside and benchland cabernet, supported by petit verdot and merlot.....this emphasizes effusive red fruit and a sweet, leafy tobacco aroma. You could drink it now with steak tartare or put it away for another seven or eight years."
