PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
La Closerie des Lys is owned by Burgundian winemakers and childhood friends Christian Collovray and Jean-Luc Terrier. Looking to expand their respective holdings, they purchased vineyards in Limoux, an appellation nestled deep in the Pyrenean foothills. With elevations between 900 and 1700 feet above sea level, south-facing exposure, wide diurnal temperature variations, and mineral-rich soils, these vineyards enable them to produce wines that beautifully balance ripeness and acidity. Today's wine is a testament to their wisdom.
The 2018 Les Closerie des Lys Chardonnay is sourced entirely from Collovray and Terrier's vineyard holdings in Limoux. Fermented and aged in stainless steel in order to showcase the wine's gorgeous terroir- and fruit-driven characters, it is medium-bodied and redolent with aromas and flavors of Golden Delicious apples, lemon peel, and quince. On the palate, these flavors are laced with accents of wet stone and spring herbs; bright acidity brings the wine to a long finish.
