PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Liquid Farm founders Jeff Nelson, Nikki Pallesen, and James Sparks shared a love of Old-World, Burgundian Chardonnays. Enamored of their subtle, terroir-driven elegance, they wanted to craft similar Chardonnays in California. They knew that their dream must start with finding the right terroir and embarked on a search for the right location. They chose the Santa Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County for its cooling Pacific breezes, morning fog, and rocky, fossilized, well-drained soils. Today's wine is a testament to their selection as well as their passion and non-interventionist approach to winemaking.

Aged for 15 months in French oak (15% new), the 2017 Golden Slope Chardonnay has notes of toasted Marcona almonds, lemon sorbet, and river rocks that leap out of the glass followed by subtle hints of burnt marshmallow, brioche, and vanilla. Liquid Farm has endearingly nicknamed this wine "Goldilox" because of its impeccable balance of richness and fresh acidity. (winery notes)

94 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
"From the Santa Rita Hills and brought up in 15% new French oak, the 2017 Chardonnay Golden Slope boasts a medium gold color as well as a beautiful bouquet of orchard fruits, salted caramel, white flowers, and plenty of marine and seaside, iodine-like notions. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, with integrated acidity, it's a classic effort from this team that will be better this time next year and will keep for a decade." (10/31/19)

93 points, Vinous:
"The 2017 Chardonnay Golden Slope shows a slightly richer side of the Sta. Rita Hills. Tangerine peel, lemon confit, almonds, a touch of new oak, and tropical inflections all meld together in a wonderfully pliant, sensual Chardonnay endowed with tons of appeal. Extroverted and racy, the Golden Slope will drink well right out of the gate." (9/19)

92 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2017 Chardonnay Golden Slope gives bright aromas of lime peel, hazelnut, and petrichor with deeper layers of honey toast, Greek yogurt, apricot, and white flowers. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy, it has good intensity in the mouth with tangy acidity and a long, layered finish." (9/12/19)
