Balthazar wines are made by Pierrick Harang, a passionate young craftsman originally from Brittany who has made his mark in Languedoc-Roussillon. He owns no vineyards but has developed relationships with many local growers. The top graduate in his class at the Oenology School at Montpellier, he has a reputation for his mastery of fruit sourcing, fruit selection, and blending. His greatest interest is in making high-quality wine at affordable prices, so his portfolio is right up our alley!
The 2019 Pierrick Harang Cuvée Balthazar Syrah Vin de Pays D'Oc is ripe, juicy, and full, with a nose of violets and black fruits and a palate redolent with flavors of blackcurrants and blackberries, with accents of licorice and baking spices and a whiff of black pepper on the long finish. Bright acidity keeps it light on its feet, making it a wine you can enjoy with or without food any time of year.
