Quinta do Gradil is a 200-hectare vineyard with a history dating back to the 15th century. Located on the western foothills of the Serra de Montejunto, it experiences warm, dry summers tempered by cooling breezes from the hills and the Atlantic Ocean, bringing forth grapes that perfectly balance ripe fruit characters and acidity. It is currently owned by Luis Vieira, a local, third-generation wine entrepreneur. His team is composed of young and talented professionals who are passionate about wine - and bringing the wines of Lisboa to the attention of consumers around the world. Today's wine definitely got our attention!
The 2017 Quinta do Gradil Castelo do Sulco Tinto is a blend of Syrah, Touriga Nacional, and Petit Verdot that is stainless-steel fermented and aged in order to showcase its ripe fruit characters. Full-bodied and silky-textured, it abounds with plums, blackberries and black raspberries, with accents of sweet baking spices and a faint whiff of black pepper. Bright acidity on the long finish brings it all into harmonious balance.
