PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
Raymond Vineyards has deep roots in California. After having learned all aspects of the wine business from over three decades working for Beringer Vineyards, Roy Raymond, along with his wife Martha Jane Beringer and their sons Walter and Roy Jr., decided to make an indelible mark on the industry. Raymond Vineyards, in the heart of the Napa Valley, was born in 1970. The Raymond family tirelessly planted vineyards and developed relationships with growers in the best AVAs in California.

The family’s vision and dedication paid off; today, Raymond Vineyards has over 300 acres of estate vineyards in the Napa Valley in 3 locations. Each parcel is matched to varietals which perform well in that particular climate and soil type. In addition, the winery maintains long term growing contracts with over 15 Napa Valley growers, allowing the winery to take advantage of the micro-climates and sub-appellations within the Napa Valley.*

The 2016 Generations Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the highest expressions of the varietal that we have had the pleasure of drinking in a very long time. Sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Napa Valley and aged for 20 months in French oak (54% new), it is deep garnet purple in color, with aromas of licorice, crème de cassis, mocha, and woodsmoke. Big and rich on the palate, it has concentrated flavors of blackberries with layers of vanilla, cocoa, sweet baking spices, and a velvety texture. The finish is long and harmonious with lingering notes of wet stone. Check out the press!

98 points, Jeb Dunnuck:
“One of the true superstars in the Raymond portfolio is the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon District Collection Generations, which is even better than the 2015. Brought up in just over half new barrels, it has an incredible bouquet of crème de cassis and blackberry fruits intermixed with lots of spice, fruitcake, and earthy minerality. Possessing full-bodied richness, a sensational sense of opulence with no weight, ripe tannins, and a great, great finish, hats off to winemaker Stephanie Putnam for another brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk today with incredible pleasure or cellared for 20-25 years.” (1/31/19)

95 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
“The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Generations (aged for 20 months in 54% new French oak) is scented of licorice, crème de cassis and mocha with underlying hints of smoked meats, tapenade, dried lavender and cardamom. Big, rich and concentrated and with firm, fine-grained tannins, it has lovely harmony and length, with minerals coming through on the finish.” (10/29/18)

93 points, Wine Spectator:
“A big, broad style, with a swath of baker's chocolate laid over a core of steeped black currant and blackberry fruit. The finish is paved with tar, licorice root and loam elements, while the fruit keeps up, ending with a roasted alder detail. Best from 2022 through 2032.” (12/31/19)

92 points, James Suckling:
“Violets and ripe blueberries on the nose make for an attractive cabernet that delivers a very plush and fleshy feel on the palate with abundant ripe plums and blackberries. Drink or hold.” (10/16/28)
