Ridge does not have many single vineyard cuvées in this portfolio, but an exception was made with today's offer because of the distinct qualities of the Ponzo Vineyard that make magic with the zinfandel varietal. Located in the northern part of the Russian River Valley, it is warm enough to bring forth ultra-ripe grapes but benefits from the valley's cool breezes; this results in a slower ripening of the grapes and gives the wine gorgeous aromatics as well as balancing acidity. The vineyard's loamy soils add richness and complexity to the finished wines.
Blended with 3% petite sirah, the 2020 Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Ponzo Vineyard spent 12 months in a combination of new (10%) and seasoned American oak barrels. It offers "focused raspberry and floral notes on the nose and a soft and supple mouthfeel, with balanced acidity and an elegant finish. (winemaker notes)

The nose is bold and fruit-driven with tricolored berry aromas accented by notes of blood orange, licorice, and dried flowers.
