Nestled high on a hill, Rutherford Hill Winery commands a spectacular view overlooking the Rutherford bench of Napa Valley. It is from a handful of the most select Napa vineyards that Rutherford Hill continues its tradition of crafting legendary wines. In 1972, while the rest of the world was just beginning to take notice of Napa Valley, the founders of Rutherford Hill capitalized on their terroir, which they recognized was ideally suited to the cultivation of Bordeaux varietals. In 1996, the Terlato family purchased the winery and embraced their legendary commitment to quality over quantity. To that end, they strive to craft top-notch wines that are brimming with true varietal and terroir-driven character.*
Today's wine is a blend of 76% cabernet sauvignon and 24% merlot fermented in stainless steel and aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. It has a complex, aromatic profile, with aromas of black currant compote layered with notes of cassis, savory herbs, anise, and baking spices. The palate is lush and full, with intense flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, and cranberry, with accents of cocoa and baking spices. Supple and round, it has a smooth, long finish.*
