PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEWS:
You already know and love Santa Julia Winery, purveyors of high-on-quality, low-on-price wines that have been hugely successful Bin Ends email features (Santa Julia+ Malbec & Torrontes, for example). Today's wine comes from Argentina's Uco Valley, located southeast of the city of Mendoza and along the Tunuyán River. Uco's high elevation (3000-4600 feet above sea level) and great sun exposure, alluvial soils, low rainfall, and wide day-to-night temperature variations bring forth ultra-ripe grapes - and it certainly shows in today's stunning wine.
The 2021 Santa Julia Reserva Mountain Blend is crafted from 70% malbec and 30% cabernet franc. Aged for 12 months in French oak, it is full-bodied and lushly textured, with aromas and flavors of black cherries and blackberry jam. Layers of vanilla, baking spice, and a hint of pepper unfold on the palate, with balancing acidity bringing elegance to this very rich wine.

91 points, James Suckling:
"Notes of black cherries and dark berries, plums, lavender, lemon zest, hazelnuts, and tobacco leaves. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Vibrant, fruity, and gently peppery with a fresh, succulent finish. Drink or hold." 93/3/22)
