PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Scenic Valley Vineyards is a family-owned winery in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Their wines are crafted from estate-grown, cool-climate varietals that thrive in the Willamette Valley terroir. Third generation owner and vineyard manager Brian Zielinski, along with winemaker Gabriel Jagle espouse the family philosophy that the best wines are the highest expression of the marriage of grape and terroir.

The opulence and elegance of today’s’ offer is the result of its origins and its craftsmanship that brings out the absolute best in Pinot Gris . The wine was fermented three different ways: Jagle used whole cluster press, the way he ferments a traditional white wine, to give it classic pinot gris varietal characteristics and soft texture. He fermented on its skins, as with a traditional red wine, to give it color, structure, and depth of flavor. Lastly, he fermented it carbonic*, like his
rosé, to give it a bit of extra color, a lot of extra fruit flavor, and complexity.
He aged the wine in about 10% new Oregon oak.**

The resulting wine beautifully juxtaposes rich, full texture with vibrant acidity.
Enticing aromas of peaches, flowers, and wet stone lead to a full, round palate with peaches and pears taking center stage. Accents of baking spices along with subtle hints of honey and wet stone lend complexity and bring the wine to a long finish.

*Carbonic maceration is a winemaking technique in which whole grapes are fermented in a carbon dioxide-rich environment prior to crushing. Conventional alcoholic fermentation involves crushing the grapes to free the juice and pulp from the skin with yeast serving to convert sugar into ethanol. Carbonic maceration ferments most of the juice while it is still inside the grape, although grapes at the bottom of the vessel are crushed by gravity and undergo conventional fermentation. The resulting wine is fruity with very low tannins. (wikipedia)
