Josh Phelps, son of local winemaking superstar Chris Phelps, and Carlo Trinchero, son of Roger Trinchero of Trinchero Family Estates, established Taken Wine Company in 2010 to craft exceptional yet affordable wines sourced from the Napa Valley's finest vineyard sites. The 2019 Taken Red Blend is a testament to their success!
The 2019 Taken, a blend of cabernet sauvignon, zinfandel, merlot, malbec, and pinot noir, is multi-layered and vibrant, with aromas of tobacco, baking spice, and cassis. The palate offers blackberry, dark cherry, ripe plum, and pomegranate. It is well-structured, with plush tannins and a lengthy finish. (winemaker notes)

91 points, James Suckling:
"This is a fruitier expression of Napa with red and black cherries, dried strawberries, currants, red peppers, and olives. Some sweet spices, too. A juicy, medium-to full-bodied palate, full of dusty cocoa powder and berry fruit. Drinkable now, but can hold for a few years, too." (8/8/22)
