Introduction:
The 2020 Solar Fortún “Baya Baya” is a vibrant and structured red blend from Valle de Guadalupe, marrying the freshness of Cabernet Sauvignon with the intensity of Petit Verdot. Bright, saline, and elegantly balanced—a standout Mexican expression.

Terroir:
All grapes are estate-grown in Francisco Zarco, Valle de Guadalupe at around 1,000–1,100 ft elevation. The vineyards are planted on sandy, decomposed sandstone soils with a touch of clay. The narrow canyon-like valley channels cool Pacific breezes, preserving acidity and imparting floral lift.

Appearance:
Bright ruby red with medium intensity and a clear rim.

Nose:
Red fruits dominate—cherry and currant—with floral echoes and a savory herbal edge. Hints of spice and subtle oak add complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Palate:
Medium-bodied, with crisp red fruit framed by bright acidity. The Cabernet brings red currant and cherry freshness, while the Petit Verdot offers structure and spice. Tannins are fine and polished. A touch of salinity and understated oak provides savory depth and lift.

Winemaking Techniques:
Hand-harvested; fermented with skins and seeds in stainless steel for ~2 weeks before transferring to French oak barrels for 6 months. Lightly filtered and bottled unfiltered to retain expression; small sulfur addition (~30 ppm) during vinification.

Finish:
Clean, saline-tinged, and refreshing—fruit tapers into mineral tension with lingering herbs, spice, and soft tannin grip.

Overall Impression:
An artful and beautifully balanced red blend showcasing Mexican terroir with energy and precision. Ideal with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, or simple cheeses. Drink now through 2028.
