Situated in the lovely village of Castiglione Falletto, this fourth-generation family-run estate has a special affinity for Nebbiolo. While many producers shine with their small lot offerings of Cru vineyard site wines, the true testament of winemaking skill is found in a producer's "village" Barolo. Such is the case with Paolo Scavino, as evidenced by today's incredibly good offering, which is sourced from seven vineyard sites in order to display the overall character of the Barolo zone.

Aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months with an additional 12 months in large casks, followed by one year in stainless steel and 10 months in bottle prior to release, the 2022 Paolo Scavino Barolo is powerful yet elegant, with aromas of red cherries, licorice, dried leaves, balsamic, and wet stone that unfold beautifully on the palate. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins and balancing acidity, this has depth and length, finishing with subtle notes of red fruits, black pepper, and leather.
