PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Located in the northeastern part of Sonoma County, Knight's Valley is nestled between the Alexander Valley and Chalk Hill AVAs and is separated from the Napa Valley by the Mayacamas Mountain Range. It is one of the warmest regions in Sonoma, thanks to its landlocked location; however, its relatively high elevation provides the wide diurnal temperature variations necessary for fruit that balances ripeness with acidity. These weather conditions, coupled with the appellation's volcanic, well-drained soils and abundant sunshine, bring forth ultra-rich, ripe, and layered cabernets.
Today's wine is a blend of 98% cabernet sauvignon and 2% merlot fermented in stainless steel and aged for 24 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. Its aromas of violet-tinged black fruits lead to a palate resplendent with flavors of blackberries and cassis laced with notes of anise, sage, nutmeg, and cocoa that unfold layer by glorious layer.
