July 2025 White Burgundy Pre-Arrival Tasting

Introduction:
The 2022 Armand Heitz Santenay Blanc is a focused and expressive white Burgundy that melds orchard fruit purity with flinty minerality and textural elegance. A prime example of modern, biodiverse winemaking from the Côte de Beaune.

Terrior:
Sourced from limestone- and schist-rich plots in Santenay, near the La Comme and Sous la Roche vineyards. These cooler, well-drained sites promote freshness, aromatic precision, and a subtle saline core in the finished wine.

Appearance:
Pale straw gold with light green reflections; clear and luminous in the glass.

Nose:
Lifted and mineral—green pear, lemon peel, citrus blossom, and white peach interplay with subtle flint, saline notes, and hints of hazelnut and white flowers.

Palate:
Medium-bodied, with vibrant acidity and a silky texture. Orchard and citrus fruits lead—pear, apple, lemon—balanced by a taut mineral spine. Lees aging lends creaminess and depth, while a saline edge keeps the wine agile and refreshing.

Finish:
Clean and lingering—orchard fruit and flint taper into a refined, mineral-driven finish with persistent salinity and subtle nutty complexity.

Overall Impression:
A crisp, terroir-expressive Chardonnay from a biodiverse producer with real energy and precision. Ideal with shellfish, trout with beurre blanc, roasted chicken, or fresh goat cheese. Drink now through 2026.
