At a time when most winemakers in the area were competing to make the best Chianti Classicos, Carpineto founders Giovanni C. Sacchet and Antonio M. Zacche sought to maximize the potential of their terroir and simultaneously offer value-based wines. They believed that the best way to achieve this end was to break free from the constrictions of the region's DOCG regulations. What they lost in DOCG status they gained many times over in just what they strove for - quality and value BIG TIME.
Crafted from 80% sangiovese and 20% cabernet sauvignon from dry-farmed, hillside vineyards, the 2021 Carpineto Dogajolo Toscana Rosso IGT is medium-to-full-bodied and resplendent with flavors of red and black fruits entwined with subtle notes of vanilla, coffee, baking spices, and herbs. Sturdy yet supple tannins provide just enough structure along with moderate acidity that appears on the long finish.
