PRODUCT OVERVIEW/REVIEW:
Sébastien Girost has winemaking in his blood; his family has been making Champagne for almost a century. This tiny little estate of just under 4 hectares of vineyards is planted to chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier and is located a short drive from the Côtes de Blancs just outside of the village of Congy. He is most definitely off the radar here in the U.S., but, as you know, this is where the sleeper gems are found, and his wines are, most definitely, wines that you will want to discover for yourself.

The 2014 Champagne Sébastien Girost Vintage Cuvée is crafted from equal parts chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier vinified in oak casks and aged for over three years in bottle prior to release. Only a small number of Champagne producers (i.e., Krug) still craft their wines in this manner due to the cost. Needless to say, when we discovered the price at which we could bring this bottle to market we were simply blown away!!

Today’s wine is rich and full-bodied yet vibrant and light on its feet, dry with a persistent mousse. Aromas and flavors of Golden Delicious apples, tangerines, lemon peel, caramel, honeysuckle, and brioche unfold on the nose and palate layer by glorious layer, captivating the senses. All of this abundance is brought into balance by bright acidity.
