PRODUCT OVERVIEW:
Cline Cellars is a family-owned winery with humble beginnings in Oakley, Contra Costa County. Over the years, as the business has grown, the Clines acquired vineyards throughout northern California and moved their winery from Oakley to Sonoma. Through all this transition, the family has held on to its holdings in Contra Costa County, where gnarly, decades-old mourvèdre vines flourish in the deep, sandy soils, yielding fruit that is ultra-ripe and concentrated.

The 2020 Cline Ancient Vines Mourvèdre draws from some of the winery's oldest and most historic vineyard blocks. These blocks produce fruit that is of stunning concentration and balance as a result of sensitive farming practices like restricting yields to only 2 to 3 tons per acre, the singular Oakley terroir, and a unique cooling band of air that flows in from the Sacramento Delta. Aged in a combination of new and seasoned American oak for 12 months, the wine is lustrous and full, with aromas of jammy black fruits and flavors of blackberries cherries, and raspberries laced with accents of vanilla, cocoa, cedar, and baking spices. Tannins are well-structured yet pliant; the wine finishes long and begs you to take another sip.
