Françoise and Denis Clair established the estate bearing their names in 1986 with 5 hectares of vineyards in Santenay. Over the years, they acquired more land in Santenay and Saint-Aubin and now have a total of 14 hectares planted to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today, their son Jean-Baptiste is the vineyard manager and winemaker, and crafts wines with the same dedication, passion, and precision as his parents.

The 2023 Domaine Françoise et Denis Clair Santenay Rouge Clos Genet is sourced from the Clos Genet climat, an 8-hectare vineyard with limestone-marl and clay soils and an east/southeast exposure. It has aromas of red fruits with hints of brambly earth. The palate is medium-bodied, plush, and silky, with fresh, vibrant flavors of cherries and raspberries laced with accents of wet stone and herbs. Moderate tannins and bright acidity lend structure and bring the wine to a long finish with echoes of red berries.
