Introduction:
The 2021 G.D. Vajra Barolo “Albe” is a dynamic and expressive Barolo that delivers remarkable finesse and accessibility without compromising the integrity of the Nebbiolo grape. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards, this cuvée showcases purity, elegance, and a vibrant mineral backbone, making it an exceptional introduction to both the producer and the region.

Terrior:
“Albe” is a blend of fruit from three distinct high-elevation vineyards—Coste di Vergne, Fossati, and La Volta—located on western-facing slopes of Barolo. These sites experience cooler temperatures and longer sunlight exposure, resulting in wines with vibrant acidity and aromatic clarity. Vajra farms organically and uses sustainable practices throughout the estate, with meticulous attention to preserving the natural balance of the environment and the vineyard.

Appearance:
Medium ruby with translucent edges and a youthful sheen. Bright and clear, the color reflects classic Nebbiolo transparency and elegance.

Nose:
The nose opens with aromas of wild red cherry, raspberry, and pomegranate, followed by floral tones of rose petals and violets. Layers of licorice, crushed stone, dried herbs, and a touch of tobacco emerge, giving the bouquet nuance and depth.

Palate:
Medium-bodied and energetic, the palate delivers juicy red fruit—sour cherry, redcurrant, and cranberry—interwoven with savory undertones and firm, fine-grained tannins. Bright acidity carries the wine through a mineral-driven mid-palate, while the oak remains subtle, allowing the Nebbiolo character to shine.

Finish:
Long and precise, the finish lingers with red fruit, dried herbs, and a dusty, stony minerality. The tannins provide structure without overwhelming, making this wine approachable in its youth while promising further development with age.

Overall Impression:
The 2021 G.D. Vajra Barolo “Albe” is an elegant, expressive Barolo that offers a beautiful balance between fruit, structure, and freshness. It’s a more accessible style of Barolo that still retains age-worthy structure, delivering classic Nebbiolo character and a clear sense of place. Drink now with a decant, or cellar for 8–12 years.
