Zemmer is a century-old, family-owned winery situated in the lowlands of Alto Adige, which has been established as a classic wine area by generations of winegrowers. Third-generation winemaker Peter Zemmer is currently at the helm and continues to advance the Zemmer name as one of the leading
producers in the region. Peter Zemmer attaches great importance to the production of wines that accurately reflect their alpine character of origin and also expressively unite the unique terrain.
The Alto Adige DOC in northeast Italy, also known as the Sudtirol in the German language, constitutes the northern half of the Trentino-Alto Adige wine region (the southern half being Trentino). An area of topographical and climatic extremes, its key vineyard zones trace the north-south path of the Adige River and are planted on the valley floor and the slopes above, many of which are incredibly steep. Vineyards are composed of calcareous gravelly morainic sediments and alluvial soils. The climate features strong diurnal shifts with cool nights and warm days, promoting aromatic intensity and acidity.
The 2024 Zemmer Pinot Grigio has aromas of floral-tinged pears, white peaches, and melons, with subtle spice and herbal nuances. The light-to medium-bodied palate has flavors of green apples, pears, and citrus zest layered with hints of saline minerality. Bright, crisp acidity begins the wine to a long finish.
