Château Laffitte Carcasset is a historic property in Saint-Estèphe, on Bordeaux's Left Bank, with a history dating back to the mid-18th century. The estate has a 35-hectare vineyard planted to cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc. The fruit benefits from the appellation's well-drained, gravelly soils of clay and limestone, which bring forth wines of immense power, ripe fruit characters, and layered, terroir-driven accents.

A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc, the 2020 Château Laffitte Carcasset was aged for 12months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels. Robust yet complex, it has aromas and flavors of blackcurrants, blackberries, and boysenberries laced with notes of licorice, herbs, tobacco, and baking spices. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a silky mouthfeel.

93 points, Decanter:
"Good complexity on the nose, chocolate, cherries, plums, and blackcurrants. Succulent straight away, it makes you suck your cheeks in; the tannins are abundant and fill the mouth, but with a soft, juicy chewiness that's really pleasant. I really like this density, it feels full without being too much - all in balance. A really enjoyable wine, good to have with food, and will age well, continuing to integrate and soften, but I like its fruit-forward confidence right now. A bit of milk chocolate sweetness, some chalkiness, and then a herbal element too - everything you need in a good claret! with typicity and approachability. Top value too."

92 points, James Suckling:
"Some blackberries, sweet cassis, dark spices, and wet earth to the nose. Almost a bit of moss and forest floor here, too. The full-bodied, round mid-palate is supported by silky tannins and some elegant, plummy fruit. Pretty long and attractive in the finish. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc. Drink or hold."
