Production & Aging
Doc Swinson's Session Blend is crafted by blending two distinct high-rye bourbon mash bills sourced from MGP in Indiana. Each component is aged for a minimum of five years in American white oak barrels with Char #4 and Char #2 heads. The blending process aims to create a bourbon that is both bold enough for cocktails and smooth enough for sipping.
Distinctive Characteristics
- High-Rye Content: The significant rye percentage in both mash bills contributes to the bourbon's spicy character, balancing the inherent sweetness from the corn.
- Non-Chill Filtered: Maintains the whiskey's natural flavors and mouthfeel, providing a richer tasting experience.
- Approachable Profile: Designed to be versatile, catering to both newcomers and seasoned bourbon enthusiasts.
Ideal Serving Suggestions
- Neat: To appreciate its balanced sweetness and spice.
- On the Rocks: Chilling can mellow the spice and enhance the bourbon's smoothness.
- In Cocktails: Its bold yet approachable profile makes it an excellent choice for classic bourbon cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
