Production & Aging
Larceny Barrel Proof is a wheated bourbon crafted by Heaven Hill Distillery, following the Old Fitzgerald tradition. Each batch is aged between 6 to 8 years in new, charred American oak barrels and is released three times per year, designated by batch numbers indicating the release month and year (e.g., A124 for January 2024). The bourbon is bottled uncut and non-chill filtered, preserving its full flavor and character.
Distinctive Characteristics
- Wheated Mash Bill: The use of wheat instead of rye provides a softer, sweeter flavor profile compared to traditional bourbons.
- Barrel Proof Expression: Bottled at full barrel proof, offering a robust and intense tasting experience.
- Batch Variations: Each release presents unique nuances, with proofs and flavor profiles varying slightly between batches.
Ideal Serving Suggestions
- Neat: To fully experience its rich and complex flavors.
- With a Splash of Water: Adding water can open up additional aromas and soften the high proof.
- On the Rocks: Chilling may mellow the intensity, making it more approachable while maintaining its distinctive character.
