Dominio de Eguren is located in the region of Manchuela, a sub-zone of La Mancha in Central Spain. The property has been family-run for four generations by the Eguren family, best known for their Rioja estate, Sierra Cantabria. Dominio de Eguren, along with Sierra Cantabria, was one of the very first wineries represented by noted Spanish wine importer Jorge Ordoñez in the early 1990s.
Protocolo Tinto is crafted from the fruit of 30-70-year-old Tempranillo vines sourced from several of the finest sites in Manchuela. The fermentation and subsequent aging of the wine take place in temperature-controlled tanks at cooler temperatures in order to preserve the fresh red fruit character of the wine.
If you are anything like us, you will absolutely LOVE the Protocolo. Medium-bodied, it has abundant flavors of black raspberries and blackberries, with accents of cocoa and sweet baking spice. Supple tannins and bright acidity add structure to this extremely versatile and easy-to-love wine.
90 Points, James Suckling (8/2/18)
"This pure tempranillo shows plenty of crushed-berry and chocolate character. Medium body. Light tannins, yet firm and tight. Shows depth. Amazing value. Drink now." (7/26/19)
